The Exit Empowerment Fund was created to support Black women who have made the bold decision to leave toxic workplaces in pursuit of liberation, healing, and entrepreneurship. We recognize that the workplace is not always a safe or equitable space—and that walking away often means walking toward purpose, but without a financial safety net.
This fund exists to close that gap. We provide microgrants, business start-up assistance, and access to community-based mentorship for Black women ready to build something of their own. Whether you're starting a consulting business, launching a product line, or developing a new service-based venture, the Exit Empowerment Fund is here to help you take your next step with dignity and support.
We believe that thriving should not come at the cost of your wellbeing—and that Black women deserve not only to survive, but to lead, innovate, and own.
My Story
Many black women spent years in toxic work environments—where micromanagement, discrimination, and gaslighting were normalized, and leadership rarely reflected the people doing the work. They showed up. They performed. But over time, the emotional toll becomes too heavy.
Our CEO eventually, made the hardest—and most liberating—decision of her life: she left.
She walked away from a steady paycheck, from titles, and from “security” that came at the cost of her wellbeing. She left in pursuit of something that felt truer to her: building Ferguson Accounts, where professionalism and people-centered practices could co-exist. But the journey was not easy.
Without a safety net or startup capital, many new business owners can't afford to pay the help they need. Juggling marketing, bookkeeping, onboarding, service delivery—sometimes from a car between odd jobs, sometimes from a coffee shop with free Wi-Fi. There were days they question everything. But don't quit.
Our CEO held on because she knew Ferguson Accounts wasn’t just a business—it was a vision for what it looks like when Black women are financially empowered, when we lead, when we own. Slowly, she began to rebuild. She gained clarity. She earned clients back. She reinvested in herself, in systems, and in her voice. That’s why she created the Exit Empowerment Fund—to help other Black women who are at the same crossroads she once stood at.
This fund is for the woman who just walked out of a toxic job with no backup plan but a dream in her heart. It’s for the entrepreneur who has everything but startup capital. It’s for the builder, the healer, the visionary who just needs someone to believe in her the way I wish someone had believed in me. If this is you, we see you. Who We Support
We provide microgrants, startup resources, and strategic guidance to Black women who have left toxic jobs and are actively pursuing entrepreneurship. Whether you're launching a consulting firm, opening a salon, creating content, or starting a bookkeeping business—we’re here for the leap.
